Make it so biased.

So I was revising Socio. Haha and then I came across some very annoying things which I just laughed at but actually it's not that funny lah. It's sexist man.

So the topic is Gender and Crime.
Otto Pollak gave reasons as to why there is under-recording of female crime. 1 reason :

Women are particularly adept in hiding their crimes because of female biology.
Women have become accustomed to deceiving men because traditional taboos prevent women from revealing pain and discomfort during menstruation.
Furthermore, women mislead men during sex.

His work has been criticized for being based upon unsubstantiated stereotypical image of women.
Thank goodness lol !

Another one, which I found more annoying, mostly at the injustice of it all.
Criminal justice as biased against women :
Male offenders sometimes treated more sympathetically than their female victims (rape trials)

Quoted comments of trial judges in rape cases in support of this claim :

"It is well known that women in particular and small boys are likely to be untruthful and invent stories."
Judge Sutcliffe

"It is the height of imprudence for any girl to hitch-hike at night. That is plain, it isn't really worth stating. She is in the true sense asking for it."
Judge Richards

And the last one, which I found paling menyampah :

"Women who say no do not always mean no. It is not just a question of how she says it, how she shows and makes it clear. If she doesn't want it she only has to keep her legs shut."
Judge Wild

But oh well, like with Religion, one has to keep an open mind lol.
Sometimes the decisions of the justice system is highly gendered and if this is true, the idea of equality before the law is an illusion.

Make it weave in and out, in and out.

I don't usually blog about my days but lol today a few.. hmm.. interesting things happened.

This morning I left for the handball tourney at 11. And somehow we only had 1 match at 12.30pm.
Ntg really interesting happened then. We just played as usual blabla.
Then after that, since we were playing at OCM, KL, we naturally bertolak to makan lunch somewhere in KL lah.
Parked in Sungei Wang but walked until like end of the world only reached Pavilion lol turn here turn there haha.
Makan habis d (our meals at the food court super expensive lor all kena pau giler2) then we were walking around, and finally headed back to Sungei Wang to go home.

Reached SW, some ppl wanted to go to the toilet. The others, Jay Lyn, Airin, Safiah and I entered Watsons to look around while the others attended to nature's call.
And then right. We passed the hair dye section. There was also this section for temporary hair sprays. I wonder lah if you know what I'm getting at :P
Safiah sprayed this bright pink BLOB onto Lyn's hair. And it wasn't a tester. But I think she thought it was. Ok la fine, kena like one pink spot on her hair nvm. But, they wanted to make it nicer, more even. By this time the promotion girls and orang awam kinda staring.

Saf sprayed one whole line from beginning to end on Lyn's left side. The sight seriously quite funny but I malas to ulpoad picture haha Imagine lah k, it's not even tester but we main spray je. All this was made interesting because because.. after that we kena kejar by security guard, no joke hahaha. The 3 left first cos I was making a call to Zairul. I turned around and saw their backs la, cos they were walking off. And then there was a shelf of stuff on their left. And on the other side of the shelf was the security guard and it being a Sunday, there were a lot of ppl so like the guard had to keep on weaving through throngs of manusia while at the same time (cos he was short) kept tip toeing to look over the shelf to keep track of the girls. I was quite afraid for them lah cos I was behind so I saw the whole thing hahaha.

Fortunately, tak kena tangkap because we managed to exit to the right while the guard got stuck in human traffic thank goodness hahaaha.

And then, on the way back from KL heading to Subang, Zairul in his orange/rust coloured MyVi nak racing tau. With Lyn's silver Civic. Lol
So we were weaving in and out lah speeding here there. Actually that was only Zairul ahah cos we just cut in and out if can. We were being quite safe lah. He ar, main whack only giler sial.

Why was this interesting ? Because because.. we were in the middle lane, Zairul on the left lane. I was the only one in the back seat of Lyn's car. Then on the right, I saw this black car, not MyVi though smtg like it, pass by slowly. Suddenly, the passenger in front, budak cina who thinks he's so cool trying to be like Green Day with emo hair and black button down shirt with red tie started waving and smiling. And I mean really smiling like giler ecstacy weih his face. I was texting so I didn't really realise and I just happened to look up, and saw him and I can imagine muka I super stone haha ! So I told Lyn & Rin and we were like hmmm.

But we cared more about Zairul overtaking us lol ! so we left them be. And then suddenly, they appeared diagonally in front of us to the left. The number plate was BJU btw. So we were like, Weih BJU weih ! Haha we nicely passing them and we turned to our left to look. Mana tau they (4 of them in the car I think with driver wearing white cap) turn to us too and all started waving and smiling maniacally like deranged ppl LOL. Couldn't help but laugh weih and they laughed too boleh nampak gigi semua tau lol. It showed that even though we were behind them they were marking our car weih.

So whatever lah we continue to try beat Zairul etc. Suddenly BJU behind our car coming near and chasing know. What the heck right. So half of the journey back to Subang was spent by Lyn trying to avoid and lose that BJU. And we did this by weaving in and out changing lanes ever so often. Buang masa je haha. She quite panic weih ahhaha.

So yes today kena kejar by Watson's security guard and by Green Day wanabees, BJU. LOL.
I've never kena either before la so that's why I found all these quite.. interesting :P But seriously the BJU ppl looked quite mental HAHA

Make it make you groan.

Because, tomorrow, college resumes :(

Which means, that, we're getting nearer everyday to A2.

Which also means, that, hello, Rachel, it's time to finally sit down and be serious about your studies.
My results dahlah bukan the bomb LOL.

Time to, quote Fiona, pull up my socks haha cos I can't afford to slow down :P

And I know he means well, and it's better than not saying anything, but it's still stressful to hear my dad asking questions such as "So.. how ? Meeting your target ?" out of concern and sometimes there're just some stuff you know but don't want to know, geddit, as in like you know it but just don't wana think about it, and this is one of 'em. So, being the person that I am, I feign ignorance lol just buat bodoh and go, "What target ?"

Not surprisingly I cringe when I hear the exasperated reply (since he knows I know haha), "Your studies lah"

And the worst part is, I can't honestly say, yes, I'm on target.. why.. because I'm not. Haiyo.

I sien wan talk about studies so bukak topik baru lol.

So anyways Fast and Furious 4 was... well.. typically Fast and Furious lah :P like you kinda know what to expect d lol.
Something disappointing would be, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez, sp ?) dying only when it's 10/15min into the show. I was like.. whaa ?? How can. Seriously what man. As usual, it was action-packed. But I feel that this time, a lil too much special effects/explosions blabla especially in the underground scenes. No wonder it didn't garner such good reviews from the papers haha.
But, like some shows, FF4 is a show you just kinda want to and end up watching no matter how bad the reviews haha :) Oh well.

The words Religion are just staring up at me with such disdain.
Fine la fine. Time to stop hiding from the fact that I have to face the tonnes of photostated papers soon. So, Emile Durkheim, here I cometh. Lol.

Just so this post doesn't look too depressing haha.

The Exchange

Just a short one. I read my friend's blog and found it really inspiring. Please do go check it out.

http://fantasyfiles.blogdrive.com/
Or
click on Adrienne Lim on the left. She's third.

"God's Brilliance that just lit up the night sky"

You may not understand the beginning but read on cos it's kinda related to the ending.
I think it's a brilliant post (cos I know you like the word brilliant, Li) and I have nothing much more to add to it except to reiterate what she said : Go for The Exchange ! Consider this an invitation from me :)

Oh, and I think the event is very aptly named :) considering it really was an exchange, what He did for us. It's a youth thing, so no worries bout boredom sneaking up on you and such :)
Hope to see you there !

Make it the dawn of a new era

Okay. So trials are over. Big deal. Lol.

Harhar am just very stressed cos there're still so many things to get done and getting about doing it is soo.. stressful and taxing.

But. Tomorrow. It shall be a new day and I will start doing these things and stop procrastinating just cos I don't want to face it. Hrmph ! Well I have to anyhow cos the deadline is soon lol.

Trials were not okay. SOMEHOW Socio was okay :O At least that's what I think lar lol later results come out not matching to what I consider 'ok' all.. mampus la. Needless to say, Econs was by far the worst. Law, could have done better. The most annoying part is.. the questions for Law weren't hard yknow, as compared to past year questions lar I mean, but I couldn't do cos I couldn't remember the case law.. why.. because I studied last minute.. why.. I don't know. I really hate studying last minute but I still do it anyhow grr.

I think most A-Level ppl are quite stressed now. Most. Well, mostly those who have been granted admission to their desired UK unis lar, cos not only is A2 nipping at their heels but mainly cos have meet the requirements. I really do think that's the most stressful part, meeting the AAA or whatever kethingy for the firm unis. Sigh.

Anyways, on a totally unrelated note haha, my mom was baking a carrot cake I think, or was it banana.. whichever la, and I was helping her. She left the mixture thing in the bowl for a bit for it to settle or whatever it's supposed to do lol and it looked so sticky, as if if something fell in, it would be impossible to take out. Then I thought.. if FLY fly in how ?! Or drop in or whatever lar you get the idea. Her response was :

"Oh.. well.. like that then become raisin lor !"

Hahahahaha oh gosh. It's funny la ok ! BUT do not let that stop you from eating our cakes ! LOL I can assure you no raisin impersonators have made it into the oven :D
